Program Goals & Outcome Measures

Program Goal 1: The San Diego WIC Dietetic Internship will prepare highly competent registered dietitians to work in California.

  • 80% of interns responding to a 1 year post-graduation survey over a five year period, will rate the program a 2 (Satisfactory) or 3 (Outstanding) on a 3-point scale on each of the program rating questions
  • Over a five year period, 90% of interns admitted to the internship will complete the program within 18 months of the planned 12 month program.
  • Over a five year period, 80% of graduates will pass the Registration Examination for Dietitians on the first try.
  • Over a five-year period, 70% or more of DI graduates who sought employment in dietetics will be employed within three months of program completion.


Program Goal 2: The San Diego WIC Dietetic Internship will prepare graduates to be culturally sensitive registered dietitians who will actively participate in community organizations.

  • 80% of graduates responding to a 1 year post-graduation survey over a five year period will rate their preparation for serving a multicultural population in their workplace as well prepared. (A 2 (Satisfactory) or 3 (Outstanding) on a 3-point scale.)
  • 80% of employers responding to a 1 year post-graduation survey over a five-year period will rate San Diego WIC Dietetic Internship graduates are well prepared to serve multicultural populations in their workplace. (A 2 (Satisfactory) or 3 (Outstanding) on a 3-point scale.)
  • 80% of graduates responding to a 2 year post-graduation survey over a five year period will respond that they participate in continuous learning, professional development and community nutrition activities.
