These minimum requirements must be met in order to apply to the San Diego WIC Dietetic Internship:
Priority consideration will be given to current California WIC employees in good standing.
- Completion of a baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accredited institution.
- A Verification Statement, dated and signed by the program director of the Didactic Program in Dietetics (DPD) documenting completion of a Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE) approved dietetics education program within the last 3 years. Additional classes may be needed if you graduated more than three years ago. Please contact the Internship Director for more information.
- Grade point average of 2.5 or higher in all college level coursework.
- California WIC employee. If you would like to be considered for the Northern California Regional option you must be an employee of a Northern California WIC program. (Please contact the Internship Coordinator if you need clarification that your WIC employer fits this definition.)
- Three current recommendations from work or volunteer supervisors, professors, and dietitians. One recommendation must be from the WIC Program supervisor.
- Desired criteria (preferred but not required)
a. Demonstrates cultural competence through work, volunteer or life experience with multicultural populations.
b. Spanish language skills.
c. Demonstration of desire to stay in California and work as a registered dietitian in community nutrition or public health programs.

- Reliable transportation is required.
